MR70 is a high-quality moulded brake lining, specially developed for applications in brake shoes. Depending on the situation, MR70 can also be used for a wide range of other applications.

Characteristics of MR70 moulded brake lining

MR70 is a fully hardened, extremely flexible, asbestos-free, moulded friction material. It contains no steel or other metal parts. The absence of metal inclusions effectively has no influence on the temperature resistance of the material.

The maximum continuous and peak temperatures are relatively high. MR70 is a general friction material suitable for gluing and riveting which thanks to its high shear strength can be fitted in practically every possible shape or radius.

If the material is exposed to heat, either during the vulcanisation process or in use, its flexibility is reduced without influencing the other characteristics. The material is suitable for use in oil, but in that case the dry friction values no longer apply. MR70 has been used for years as a replacement for asbestos.

Characteristics of MR70 moulded brake lining


There are different possible installation methods for the moulded brake lining. The most commonly used method is the vulcanisation (gluing) of the moulded brake shoes. During this process the brake shoes are placed in an oven. For riveting, the head of the rivet must be countersunk into the moulded brake lining. This requires the use of a special countersink drill bit.

MS70 is supplied as standard on a roll (see below: roll dimensions). It is also possible for us to supply the dimensions you require, cut to size.
